Position Title: Police Officer - Oregon In-State Lateral

Salary: $31.98 - $41.97 Hourly

Position Overview:
The City of Salem's Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer - Oregon In-State Lateral. The department is looking for outstanding candidates to join a leading law enforcement agency in the Pacific Northwest. The Salem Police Department offers a variety of special teams and units, including SWAT, Bomb Squad, Mobile Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Strategic Investigations Unit, and more. As a Salem Police Officer, you will have access to state-of-the-art patrol vehicles, advanced technology, and comprehensive equipment.

The Salem Police Department is a full-service professional agency with 191 sworn positions, housed in the largest police facility in Oregon. As the third-largest municipal agency in the state, the department serves a population of over 177,000 residents in the capital city of Salem. Location:

Duties:
As a City of Salem Police Officer, your responsibilities will include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws and ordinances, investigating citizen complaints, examining crime and accident scenes, preserving evidence, and engaging with the community through meetings and public information sessions.

Additional Incentives:

2%-10% premium pay for a combination of DPSST certification levels, training, and college education

Minimum Qualifications:

High School graduate or GED completion
Must possess a Basic Police Certification by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST)
Currently employed, or employed within the past 12 months, as an Oregon police officer with at least three years of full-time sworn experience in Oregon
Must have a valid Oregon class C driver's license or equivalent and a clean driving record
Must be able to work rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends
Must be at least 21 years old at the date of hire
U.S. Citizenship or ability to become a citizen within 18 months of hire
Must pass various competitive tests, including physical fitness, psychological exams, and a thorough background investigation
